Sugar we're goin' down...to hell

What follows are the lyrics to the popular song "Sugar We're Goin' Down" by the popular music band "Fall Out Boy." I have added my own comments, as well.

Am I more than you bargained for yet

(Implying that he's too much to handle)

I've been dying to tell you anything you want to hear
Cause that's just who I am this week

(...but he's apparently just a kiss-ass)

Lie in the grass, next to the mausoleum

(Pointless line)

I'm just a notch in your bedpost
But you're just a line in a song

(She's not just a line. SHE'S THE WHOLE SONG. I think she came out on top of that deal)

Drop a heart, break a name

(I don't know what that means to break a name. I'm a college student; they graduated high school. Therefore, they are wrong.)

We're always sleeping in, and sleeping for the wrong team

(I understand what he means by this, kind of. Even so, it's stupid to say someone is sleeping for the wrong team.)

We're going down, down in an earlier round

(Earlier than what? Nice use of a comparative for th extra syllables.)

And Sugar, we're going down swinging

(Going down swinging implies you're both fighting for the relationship, which is clearly not the case.)

I'll be your number one with a bullet
A loaded God complex, cock it and pull it
[x2]

(NOBODY WITH INTELLIGENCE KNOWS WHAT THIS MEANS. Seriously, I smell a case of purposely-vague-writing-to-cover-up-the-fact-you're-not-good-writers)

Is this more than you bargained for yet
Oh don't mind me I'm watching you two from the closet
Wishing to be the friction in your jeans

(Honestly, friction in your jeans? Don't pretend you're smarter than Simple Plan when you write songs. That's dumb.)

Isn't it messed up how I'm just dying to be him
I'm just a notch in your bedpost
But you're just a line in a song
(Notch in your bedpost, but you're just a line in a song)

The song goes on from here to say nothing new or of value. Fall Out Boy can bite a monkey.

I don't care if the song is catchy--idiot lyrics ruin it. That's all.

Lie in the grass next to the mausoleum? That's poetry!!!! Methinks it is an allusion to the Smith's "Cemetery Gates."
Also, methinks you are totally in love with that song and have a huge man crush on Fallout boy.

love,
Mom.

Dear Son,
Remember that time when you thought Chris Wong posted that comment using my name? Like I never heard of the Smiths!
Also, the Blogosphere community (or at least Lgreene and Jfishwick) miss your updates. Loser.

xoxo,
Momsy
